The challenge
The global healthcare industry generates millions of tonnes of waste each year, and diagnostic consumables represent a significant and growing share. Every blood-collection tube, specimen container, reagent cartridge, pipette tip, and pair of gloves is typically single-use plastic, designed to last a few minutes and persist in the environment for centuries. The decentralisation of diagnostics risks multiplying this problem in settings with even less capacity to manage it safely. We treat this as a design constraint equal in importance to clinical accuracy.

What we're developing
Biodegradable alternatives to conventional EDTA, citrate, and serum-separator tubes, designed for the same clinical performance with a fraction of the environmental persistence.
Compostable urine and fluid containers replacing polypropylene and polystyrene.
Biodegradable housings for the intelligent carriers that run inside our diagnostic platforms.
Compostable single-use sample-handling components.
Cuvettes, well plates, slides, and other disposables redesigned for responsible end-of-life.
Biodegradable gloves, gowns, masks, and drapes for clinical settings.
Compostable packaging for the consumables themselves, closing the loop on the entire supply chain.
Patent application No. 202531060831 covers a PLA-PBS-PHA-PCL biodegradable blend system and is filed and under examination at the Indian Patent Office. EcoLabware remains at research and early prototyping stage. No EcoLabware product is commercially available.
